The first time I met with Dace, I knew her wedding day was going to be nothing short of spectacular. Her laid back personality and my easy going mentality instantly clicked. I’m pretty sure we talked about her wedding day during our first meeting, but it really just felt like coffee with a new friend.
As I drove up to Silverthorne from Denver, my anticipation grew as I watched the warm sun beam down in-between perfectly puffy clouds. It was shaping up to be the ideal day for a wedding in a beautiful outdoor location surrounded only by immediate family. One of my favorite parts of Dace and Matt’s wedding day was arriving to find all the family gathered in one house getting ready together. The love in the air was so think you could almost eat it with a spoon! I immediately felt like I was one of the family. After an hour of getting ready and some emotional candid moments, it was time to head to one of the most beautiful wedding ceremony sites you can imagine, Sapphire Point (If you haven’t been, go. If you have been, go again). Family setup a simple ceremony site with clean white chairs. No flowers, no ribbon – just the beautiful Colorado mountains in the background. Dace and Matt said their personal vows and shared tears and laughs before exchanging rings. After family photos, the couple and I stayed at Sapphire Point for more jaw dropping photos before moving down to the lake to test our balance on a very choppy dock (it was totally worth it and no one fell in!). Back at the lake house, family set out coolers of Colorado Beers and a vegan dinner fit for a king and queen! After a first dance in front of the lake, cutting a simple cake and cheer-sing their family, it was time to relax. We ended the night with playing corn hole, fishing, dancing to Elvis… you know, things every wedding should have!
I’m pretty sure I drove back to Denver with a smile on my face the entire time. It’s these types of couples, families and wedding days that keep me going and growing as a wedding photographer. I am so grateful for the experiences I have and the connections I make with each couple and family.
With Love,
Soleil
