Guys, admit it, you don’t like having your photo taken and that’s ok! Being dressed up in a suit and saying your vows in front of all your friends and family is nerve-wracking enough! Photos of the groom shouldn’t be stressful, and they definitely don’t need to take more than 10 minutes. Here’s my easy, fool proof way of getting great pictures of your groom.
First, I like to grab candid natural light photos as your groom prepares for his day (IE: tying his tie, buttoning his cuffs, putting on a watch, etc). This is also a great time to get parents involved! I love having dad fix the grooms tie and getting mom to pin on his boutonnière (don’t worry, I’ll show her how!). Couples cherish these candid moment photos and it’s one of my favorite part of the days to photograph because there is so much emotion involved.
To get nice formal photos of the groom, I start by taking group photos with the groom and groomsmen. This helps loosen everyone up and makes the groom more relaxed when it’s time to focus on him. Simple formal poses do well here – think GQ. If you’re groom is wearing fun socks or any other personalized accessories, I will photograph them at this time as well.
If your groom is dreading photos, dread no further! I am confident I can make him feel good, look good and capture great photos in just a matter of minutes!
